A 'Belated' Sweet Sixteen...LOL!

One of my friends turned 28 but decided she didn't feel a day over 16 so she held a 'Sweet Sixteen' themed b-day party! We had the time of our lives and for a second there we were really sixteen again lol!

We decorated everything and made delicious snacks like sushi for all the guests. A stripper showed up to wish the b-day girl a happy b-day, no pix, they are X-rated! A 'movie' is coming up soon though! LMAO! Hopefully someone else we know will turn '16 again' soon so we can do this once more! Hahaha!

Giro d'Italia On Mother's Day

On Mother's Day we were on my way to my mom's when we saw the Giro d'Italia pass by. It's usually never this crowded so it was a fun sight to see everyone standing besides the roads to catch a glimps of the tour.

After that we had a nice dinner with the family and realized it was the last day the fun fair was in town there so we had to go one more time and see if we got lucky! We did and won some stuffed animals again, we definitely became pro's at that 'shooter' game!

Fun At The Fun Fair On Liberation Day

On our Dutch Liberation Day I went to the fun fair with my mom and sisters. Normally there are different open air concerts and festivals to go to but I was a bit lazy so this was another fun option. We were pretty good at this weird 'shooter' game and won some stuffed animals too!Woot woot! :-)

Move Like Michael Jackson Final

On May 1st we went to the final live show of 'Move Like Michael Jackson' and the last contestants were all trying very hard to win showing everyone their best moves. The show was a real thriller and eventually little Luciano won. He has sick moves for such a young child! "

Queensday... And Queensnight!

Queensday was a lot of fun this year! We went to the fun fair and went into the haunted house and the Luna Park, it's hilarious doing this stuff when you're supposed to be 'too old'! I can recommand it to anyone lol! The night before (Queensnight) it was raining a lot so we didn't party too hard that night. ;-)

What do you think of my orange nails btw? They were especially done for Queensnight and Queensday but I might be rocking them again with the World Cup!

Move Like Michael Jackson Live Shows

On Amanda's b-day (and the day after) we went to the live shows of 'Move Like Michael Jackson'. Apparently it wasn't really 'live' because the first show aired a week later and the second show aired two weeks later...

It was nice to see all the contestants perform and some were very good! When the show aired on tv you could actually see us cheering in the audience. Can't wait for the final on May 1st!

Amanda's B-day Party

I'm still at it! I discovered this new line by 'Catrice' called 'Ultimate Nail Laquer' and the colors are sooo cute. They're not expensive either, only 2,5 euro's a bottle! I'm still in search of 4 colors and then my collection is complete. The colors have adorable names too, the ones I'm still looking for are called 'Sold Out For Ever', 'I Sea You', 'It Blue My Mind' and 'London's Weather Forecast'. Sounds so cool right?

My friend Juanita recently celebrated her b-day and decided she wanted to make everyone different cocktails! They were so good! Of course I drank my favorite pina colada. She asked me to make her saoto soup! Who ever thought I would end up being a kitchen princess lol. I posted the recipe to my saoto soup before so if you want to try it yourself some time you can look it up!

We had so much fun and after the food and some cocktails we went to the BAJA to celebrate some more!

It was a fun night out! We don't go out to clubs that much anymore but once we were there we partied the night away. We also made friends with the barman hehehe.

Beauty Trade Special 2010

Every 6 months there is a Beauty Trade Special at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. I was there to check out all the new beauty stuff and they had great things! Of course I went to make-up studio for my favorite cream foundation. Also went to O.P.I. for some new colors for my nails. Besides matte nailpolish they have nailpolish with a suede effect now too, so cool! one of my favorite new colors is a matte nailpolish called 'gargantuan green grape' (you can see it on one of the pics below). I can't wait to try it on!

At Hairstyle 2010

I went to 'Hairstyle 2010' at the Ahoy in Rotterdam! I got updated on all the latest trends concerning everything that has to do with hair. Different hairstylists from all over came here and showed everyone how it's supposed to be done! Really saw some nice haircuts!

For these past few weeks I've been debating wether or not I should cut my hair and do something totally different with it. Still thinking about it though! Once I've made up my mind I'll let you know!

How To Pull Off The Maritime Look!

The maritime/navy look is hot right now, but because of the stripes and basic colors not an easy look to get right without any effort. As you can probably tell from my latest posts it's one of my favorite looks at the moment. A few of my pointers to pull this look off:

1. The colors for this look are very basic; blue, white and red. Keep your accessoires in those same colors or all silver/gold, otherwise you'll have too much going on.

2. Most tops etc. in this look work with horizontal stripes, it's not the most flattering look, be aware of that and try to accentuate your 'smaller' parts.

3. Demin leggings work well with this look!

4. Brogues are perfect (and comfortable) shoes that go very well with this look.

5. Were make-up is concerned, keep it quiet. For the more daring types a red lip can be nice if the rest of your look hasn't got too much red going on already!

I'm really into going to the movies lately! I always am btw, but it's more than usual these last few weeks. Some of the movies I saw within these last weeks: Alice In Wonderland (in 3D, I love watching movies in 3D), Case 39, Daybreakers, Dear John (how romantic), Percy Jackson &The Lightning Thief, Shutter Island (better than I expected), The Book Of Eli, The Lovely Bones, The Spy Next Door, Valentine's Day and a few others!

Of course I'm not done yet, I still want to see Chloe and From Paris With Love! A bold John Travolta, interesting!

Kirsten's b-day!

My youngest sister Kirsten became 22! Can't believe it, we're getting old! She didn't really feel like celebrating, but the day after her b-day she invited some of her friends to come over for dinner. It was quiet but fun.

On her actual b-day she didn't invite anyone but our aunt and uncle, and three of my cousins came over. We cooked a nice dinner for them and everyone was surprised of our cooking skills. They better be, it's heavenly. LOL!

Probably said it before but I love having dinner with friends! Just to catch up and talk over the latest gossip too of course. We went to Indian restaurant Akbar this time and I ate a 'Tandoori Mixed Grill'. Loved it. The service could have been better though, a few things went wrong in that area but that couldn't spoil the fun.

After our dinner we went to cocktailbar NJOY. Delicious cocktails. I won't be a surprise that I ended up with a Pina Colada again lol!

I went for a maritime look this evening. I'm really into everything that has to do with that look at the moment. The blue, white and red, combined with the stripes, I'm lovin' it.

Ne-yo Concert

Most definitely my favorite concert in a long time! Wow, this guy can sing and this songs are amazing. The songs he writes always have that 'special something', it's hard to explain. I loved that he also sung a mix of songs he wrote for other artists. If he's around another time I will definitely be there again!

I went to Ryan Leslie's concert in the Escape in Amsterdam. I was surprised by how energetic he was on stage! Must be tiring to do that so many times a year. Definitely a great show. Once I hear 'Diamond Girl' I can never get that song out of my head, I've had that ever since I first heard it!

I hope that everyone who celebrated Valentine's Day had a wonderful day! Even though you should love and appreciate the people around you everyday, I like that there is a special day that puts a little highlight on it.

After being sick for a couple of weeks, my dearest, dearest grandmother died. She was the last grandparent I had left. Words can't describe my sadness but she was a person that loved life no matter what, so the best way to honor her is to do just that. I will miss her so very much but I know she will always be there in my heart. Even little everyday things will remind me of her. Like my love for fashion and jewelry, as you can cleary see below we all inherited that trait from her.

I've always had a crush on nude colored items and last (and upcoming) season they were/are available everywhere! More and more stores and boutiques are selling nude and powder colored clothes, shoes and accessoiries and I'm lovin' it. Whether it's shoes, tops, vests or even a nice dress, nude has that elegant touch! It's chique yet never too much. If you scroll back you'll see I was wearing all nude colors on New Year's Eve in Miami. I loved that look!

As you can see on some of my latest pics I love myself some cocktails! With or without alcohol, I just love them. In the Dominican Republic I drank so many of them so I always ordered virgin cocktails, otherwise I would have been drunk every single day. Not a good look lol!

I just love Pina Colada, it's my favorite cocktail! The creamy coconut and pineapple taste just makes it amazing. Last weekend I went to American Dream Cafe for some cocktails with my girls, unfortunately they were closing early so we left after our cocktails.

What do you think of my nailpolish btw, it's blue! The color is called 'Blue Monday', it's by 'Gosh'. Not a color I would normally go for but I wanted to switch it up a bit!

New Year's Eve in Miami

On New Year's Eve we went to Miami South Beach for the fireworks. I loved it! It was so much fun being on the beach again, only this time at night, and just watching all the fireworks in the sand. After that we just walked around the whole area to see what was going on. Everyone was sitting outside hotels, bars, clubs etc. enjoying some food and drinks. I drank the most delicious shake ever btw, made with icecream and Bailey's, to die for!!!

I do have to say Miami has some diehard fashionistas! I was wearing heels but I was smart enough to take some flip flops with me for when we would walk on the beach. Not everyone was that smart though, or they probably didn't want to look less fashionable or something hahaha!! After midnight you literally saw the girls looking in pain and having trouble walking in their heels. I loved their courage but as much as I love my high heels I wouldn't want to trade with them!

Miami South Beach

While we were in Miami we've spent most of our time on Miami South Beach. I was in the seawater the whole time and I can't believe how tanned I got there! It was fun to see all the helicopters coming by, promoting NYE parties for clubs in that area. And not the forget all the stores close by, you can really do some great shopping there (which I did a lot of, of course lol)!

Miami weather can be very unpredictable though, one day we were on our way to the beach and all of a sudden clouds came up out of 'nowhere' and it started raining within minutes. There I was in my bikini and short dress! Good thing there is enough to do so we just went to the movies. I love how 'big' everything was btw, what on earth should a 'little girl' like me do with a coke that's like 1,5 liters? I was so in shock and it wasn't a large coke or anything but they actually dared to call it 'medium'. LOL!

Miami is not even 2 hours away from the DR (by plane of course) so while we were there we also decided to visit Miami for a few days. It was amazing! The skylines looked so cool at night. Dominican Musical!

After celebrating New Year's Eve during a short trip to Miami, we went back to the Dominican Republic for our last 2 days there. We saw a musical about the Dominican history, culture and traditions. I loved all the dances too of course! I'll try to put up a small video, but for now these pictures will have to do!

How I love it over there! It really looks like paradise! The weather was lovely and although the sun wasn't shining all the time is was so warm. A lot different from the weather here in the Netherlands, it's still snowing! I loved all the little cute birds, I tried to catch them all the time (ok not really, but that's what I secretly wanted lol). We really took it easy and just enjoyed the nice weather, beautiful nature and of course the food and the cocktails! Can't forget those!

After a few days in the DR we went to Miami for New Year's and some action! We were getting a bit bored from our own laziness hahaha! I won't bore you with all the details so take a look at some of the pics I took.

The hotel had their own beach side but the waves were so strong I didn't even want to get on the beach. The pool was good enough lol!

I know I'm a bit late but I'd like to wish everyone a happy New Year. I was on a vacation in the Dominican Republic and Miami so I didn't spend much time online. I'm back now though so more updates about what I've been up to there are coming up soon!

Christmas with the family!

I spent a quiet Christmas with family and friends this year. We actually do that every year, just spending quality time with the whole fam! My mom made her famous turkey (amongst a lot of other things), it was delicious as always! After dinner we played games and had a few little gifts we could win, guess who won the most! LOL!
I didn't really take a lot of pics, just a few with my phone! The one below is of me and my cousin waiting on our food (look at how big we're smiling)! I was leaving to the Dominican Republic the next day so I actually still had to pack all my stuff after I got home. Nothing to complain about though! I just loved the holidays! We had a white christmas btw, so cool (literally, haha)!

Sinterklaas

It was Sinterklaas again in the Netherlands on December 5th. I had a nice dinner with the family and we saw a movie together after opening up our presents. Just some good quality time with the family! I got earrings and black silk gloves that go with a dress I recently bought. Of course we also ate some tradional Sinterklaas candy like, 'pepernoten' and 'marsepein', and drank some 'gluhwein'. December will get me fat this year, I'm telling you! Hahaha!

One of the things I love to do whenever I have the time is go out and have dinner with friends. This week I went to 'los toros' with some friends and we ate some yummy spare ribs and chicken. SYTYCD: Els Winner Of 2nd Season!

Els won the second edition of the Dutch/Belgian version of 'So You Think You Can Dance'! Last year we had a Dutch version but this year they teamed up with Belgium. It was a wonderful show! I really enjoyed it. From the beginning on Angelo and Els were the two favorites, eventually Els won.

I was in the audience watching the live show. The vibe was great! All the final four people are great dancers and I hope to hear a lot from them. Can't wait for next year's show!

Joe and Ginuwine Concert

Tuesday I went to a concert in the Marcanti in Amsterdam. Ginuwine and Joe were performing! I had a great time with my friends, and both Ginuwine and Joe gave away a great show. We were dancing and having fun, it felt like we were back in the 90's for a while lol! We met Joe after the show, nice guy! I always enjoy going to concerts, I'm already looking out for another one to go to with my friends, any suggestions?

So You Think You Can Dance Live Show

I went to the first live show of the second season of So You Think You Can Dance! I loved it! Everyone did a great job and I definitely plan on going to more often. During the last dance of the show Lorenzo fell and hurt his knee. I heard he can't take part in the rest of the live shows because his recovery takes at least six weeks. Too bad because he was really good!

Last Saturday I went to 100% Tuning in the Ahoy, Rotterdam. People from all over Europe came over to show off their pimped rides, or just came over to watch the cars. Not really my thing, so I didn't say too long. I did eat some yummy icecream over there!

FAME movie premiere!

Last Monday I went to the movie premiere of FAME. I really enjoyed it! After the red carpet we got to see a performance by the puma dance crew before the movie started. Two of the leading actors of the movie came to Amsterdam for the premiere too.

Unfortunately the weather was pretty bad so most people showed up with their umbrella's lol! Maybe not always the most stylish way to accessorize your look but it was a must-have this time around! haha!

The movie turned out to be really good! I was a bit sceptical at first because I usually don't like the remakes of a good movie. Let alone a dance movie. But I can't complain, I was pleasantly surprised!

Beauty Salon Trade 2009

I went to the Beauty Salon Trade in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht yesterday. It's a cool event to get up to date on all the latest trends in beauty, make up and nail art world. I saw some very cool things like matt nailpolish, it looks like rubber. It has no shine so it looks a little weird at first but it goes very well with, for example, the leather jackets and leggings this season.

I noticed that where it concerns make up it either is really over-the-top glam or natural and matt these days. I like both styles so I bought some cool stuff. Too bad I can't put in all on at once.....just kidding.....................ok I was just kidding a little! HAHAHA! :-)

Chocolate Shake anyone?

Last season it was all about bright colors like pink, red, purple etc. Appropriate for summer, but now that it's getting a bit colder again we need something else. Dark colors like black always work but I wanted something else and I'm really into 'cream' colors right now. This color below is called 'Chocolate Shake'. How cute? I also have another creamy color that's called 'Iced Chai Latte'. I'll put it on soon and I'll show you the color, it's hot!

Mart Visser Fashion Show

Last Saturday I went to the Mart Visser fashion show. It was amazing! Besides other lovely outfits I saw many glitter and sequin outfits, and we all know how much I adore everything that glitters lol!

I wore a short, black body-con dress with an oversized boyfriend blazer. I also wore my new booties with studs, they must be my favorites at the moment!

My Friend's Wedding!

One of my best friends got married! I can't believe we're all getting so old! I love it though. She isn't the traditional type of girl so she decided to marry in red, she looked so beautiful! The whole wedding was just lovely. My mom and sisters came to the reception later on too, we've been friends since kindergarten so we grew up together.

I adore weddings, I wore a black and white dress, and if you look closer you''ll see the pattern on the dress are all hearts. How appropriate? :-)

The Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute

Last Saturday 'The Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute' was held in Best! There were amazing performances, lasershows and fireworks. It was a huge success! About 2000 fans attended this free event that was co-organized by TNG Fanclub. In a lottery people could win one of MJ's worn and signed jackets. All profits from the lottery will be donated to the Ronald McDonald Child Fund. We are able to donate 2630 euro thanks to everyone that bought tickets. How great is that?

Lakeside festival 2009: Lots of water...

Last Friday I went to the Lakeside 2009 festival. The vibe was great but unfortunately it was raining so heavily it kinda spoiled the whole event. I was on a special deck but even up there the rain started to come in and on the 'inside' part of the deck you could only watch the shows on screen... Some people were real 'die hards' and just remained watching the shows, but I decided to leave after an hour or so. Better luck next year!

'Rio aan de Rijn' Carnival 2009

Last Saturday was 'Rio aan de Rijn' Carnival in Arnhem! I always go to Summer Carnival in Rotterdam, which is a few weeks earlier, but this year I also went to 'Rio aan de Rijn'. The parade is smaller than the one in Rotterdam but the costums were so beautiful!

After the parade was done we went to 'Club Uniq' and got some drinks on the terrace with a group of friends. I love this summer vibe, too bad it's slowly coming to an end again!

My Trip to Egypt pt.5: A Day In Cairo

The last part of our trip to Egypt was a trip to Cairo, the capital city of Egypt. It was a 6 hour drive (and 8 hours back!) from where we were staying but it was sooo worth it! We saw all the things that I desperately wanted to see like the Nile River, The Egyptian museum and of course the piramides. We also went inside the piramides! I especially enjoyed the time at the museum, it was so interesting and I was blown away by all the treasures from Tutankhamon including the golden mask, unbelievable! Unfortunately no cameras were allowed into the museum, understandable but such a shame lol!

My trip to Egypt pt. 4: Visiting the Bedouins

We visited some Bedouins while were in Egypt. They are desert-dwelling people of related tribes. What an experience!

They showed us around their 'house' and how they depend on animals, fruits and herbs etc. for their living. Although it was an experience I never wanted to miss, it also made me feel weird and uncomfortable at the same. They live off practically nothing and it's a real realitycheck whenever you tend to forget how good you actually have it yourself.

During our trip to Egypt we went into the South Sinai desert with a jeep and went 'off road' to see the real beauty of it, it's amazing! The wind was breezing but you could feel the sun burning on your skin. We made some new friends while we were in Egypt and one of them helped me carve my name 'Nicole' in the sand...in Arabic! I really love this picture, it reminds me of the fun times we had.

After that we went for a camel ride! I was a bit scared at first because 'my' camel looked kinda evil lol! It was not that bad at all and I had to remind myself that when I was little I also got on the back of an elephant so this should be a piece of cake. It was and someone actually taught me you were able to give them signs so they know how fast to walk, when to go right/left etc. So much fun!

As real tourists (lol) we went around the neighbourhood checking out some local stores and souvenir shops. It was a lot of fun but you really needed to negotiate on the price or else they ripped you off haha.

I heard different stories about those people in the shops but around our neighbourhood they were very nice. In one shop they totally dressed me up as some kind of harem girl and then made me do a dance lmao! The picture far below is just a start, we made a video but I'm still debating whether or not to put it online. :-0

My trip to Egypt pt.1: Snorkling and Diving

So I'm back from my vacation in Egypt! I had a great time there, and in the meantime I also learned a lot. It's weird to see an Arabic country where in some parts Muslims and Christian people live side by side. It also amazed me how different the country was to different people. Native Egyptian people get treated very different from non-natives or tourists. Although the people are very polite and humble at most times, it's really clear a lot of people depend on the tourism in the country.

Apart from feeling like a tourist (I usually prefer to just 'blend in'), I enjoyed the beauty of the country. We arrived in Taba, and while driving from the airport to the hotel we came at a crossing point where you could see four countries at once; Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Israel and Jordan. It was such a 'weird' sight.

The first part of the trip was devoted to snorkling and diving. The sealife in the Red Sea is so beautiful, it's beyond words. I even came across a few lion fish, they looked kinda dangerous but only after a few days I learned that they actually were rather dangerous lol. I didn't take an underwater camera with me so no pics of them unfortunately.

We stayed in Nuweiba, it's not as touristic as the other areas around the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba. But eventhough it was not as touristic as other places were, everywhere you looked there were paitings etc. of fish and corals, which indicates the importance and influence of the sea on the people who live there.

My 27th Birthday!

Wow I'm getting so old! 27, I can't believe it lol. Let's just say I'm still young at heart. I had a wonderful, quiet birthday. I didn't feel like anything big so I just invited a few close friends and some family. The weather was not too bad so we all sat outside and drank some yummy cocktails. Don't they look cute?

I wore a short black dress with black leopard print leggings...and hot pink heels! I bought the heels a few days before my birthday and they really are my latest fashion crush. I wore some fuschia lips to go with them!

The fun thing was that everyone was like 'wow, now that's pink', so we made them all try it on and took a picture, what do you think?

Summer Carnival 2009

The last Saturday in July is the day we celebrate 'Summer Carnival'. The day before there also is 'The Battle of the Drums', you can see it as a sort of warm up for the next day.

I usually just watch the parade with some friends but this year I was on one of the trucks. It was fun to see it from the other side this time. There were so many people out on the streets! The weather was very nice again (go Holland lol) so that contributed to the huge success.

After the parade I quickly met up with some friends but I had to leave early because I had a family feast at my aunt and uncle's house, overall I had an amazing day!

July 18th was supposed to be the day that me and some friends would be in London to see Michael perform in the O2. It made me sad to know that will never happen anymore. Because I felt so sad Rensley tried to cheer me up and took me to Phantasialand in Germany that weekend. Juanita and her boyfriend decided to come along with us, I had a great time and it definitely took my mind off things for a while.

Phantasialand is one of my favorite theme parks in the world. The whole vibe there is just really cheerful! We stayed in hotel 'Matamba', the hotel is literally in the theme park itself and is decorated in the 'Africa' theme, just like that whole side of the theme park is.

The whole weekend was so much fun and we also went to the city after the park closed in the evening. In the morning we got the best breakfast ever! Yummy pancakes and lots of other stuff.

On the second day we went into some rides, and we noticed they changed one of the names of the rides. They changed the 'Colorado Thrill Ride' into 'The Michael Jackson'. Accompanied with a note to thank him for everything and that he will be missed. How cool is that? I really appreciated the gesture. Needless to say it became our favorite ride and we went in it a few times. :-)

Your.Music Festival 2009

On July 3rd a Your.Music Festival was held in Rotterdam. It was a one-time festival in honor of Rotterdam being titeled as the no.1 youth capital city in Europe for 2009. The weather was nice so lots of people came over.

It was one day after the MJ Tribute Concert so I was very tired but decided to go anyway. It was a good choice, I had a great time.

Artists like N*E*R*D came over to perform and gave away a great show. I always love the festival season, esp. when the weather is allowing it of course lol!

I drank some delicious Bols cocktail shake over there, it was so good! I never heard of it before, and I haven't seen it anywhere else after that, so I think you're supposed to make a mix by yourself with Bols liquor. I'm gonna try and make it some time!

MJ Tribute Concert Paradiso

As I said in an earlier post Boris, PR-M and TNG Fanclub organized a MJ Tribute Concert in Paradiso on July 2nd. It was a huge success, Paradiso was packed (1500 people) and another 2000 were outside watching it on a big screen.

Before people entered the venue, they each got a special blue balloon with stars on it. Everyone was able to put a special message on the cards before we all let them go up at the same time. It was beautiful.

The whole Tribute was free for everyone and the vibe was magical. Performers like Waylan, Boris, Do and many more gave one of their best performances ever.

We got so many loving, warm responses after the Tribute, so thank you to everyone that was there and of course thank you to all the people who helped make this possible. There was only one MJ and he will be missed forever.

Parkpop 2009

June 28th was the latest edition of 'Parkpop'. It's always held in The Hague and each year many national and international artists come over to perform. There's always this great vibe, I didn't attend the festival in years but I was glad I got to go this year.

Everyone was still in shock about the passing of Michael, almost every artist that performed gave a tribute to him. It felt comforting yet kind of 'weird' at the same time. I LOVE music and I love to go to concerts, festivals etc. and watch artists perform, unfortunately MJ will never be one of them anymore. I was supposed to go to his concert in London on the 18th, it's still hard to grasp he's not there anymore.

Still can't believe it! After suffering a cardiac arrest Michael died at the age of 50. I grew up with Jackson music and his passing is such a big shock to me. I sincerly hope he finally found his well-deserved rest and I'm sure his memory will live on forever. He truly was the King Of Pop and so much more!
To honor him, Boris (soulsinger and winner of Idols 2), his management PR-M and TNG Fanclub organized a Tribute Concert in Paradiso last Thursday. It was a huge success and it was also the reason I haven't been online that much in the last few days. It took all of my spare time but I'm glad we did it. Pictures etc. will be online soon!

My mom's 50th b-day!

On the 24th of June my mom turned 50! She was really moody the days before she turned 50, she couldn't believe it! LOL! We organized a surprise party for her but, as she's a very nosy person, she knew something was going on. She was grilling everyone for info, with no success to her displease. hahaha!

We rented the top floor of a restaurant and invited all of our closest relatives and friends to come join us. Besides a nice dinner with everyone, we hired someone to come over and play some Surinamese music! We also made her a special b-day cake with her picture on it. Her face was so in shock when she saw the whole surprise we had in store for her, look at the pic, it cracks me up every time!
Although I look very tired in the last pic (I was so busy arranging everything that I hardly slept the night before), I love it! It was a great party. Looking forward to the next 50 years!

Last Friday I went to Tilburg for the open air concert 'Because I am a girl', organized by charity organisation 'Plan'. This concert was there to give some extra attention to the position of girls in underdeveloped countries. Lots of strong woman came over to perform!

The sun was shining and everyone was in a good mood, I think they were able to raise a lot of monet for a good cause on this day!

Artists like Maria Mena, Isle DeLange, Room 11 and lots of others all came out to support!

My friend Lucinda was nominated for a newb tv award for a project she had been working on, so last Thursday I went to Rotterdam to support her. She won! It was great seeing her win the award, a crown on all her hard work!

May I present to you, the new love of my life! HAHAHA!

My old gadgets were in desperate need of an upgrade so these last two weeks I bought a new laptop and a blackberry bold 9000! How I love this phone, it's my new toy! I'm seriously addicted! At first I had some doubts because for the last 4 years I only had phones that had both a 'qwerty' keypad AND a touchscreen. This phone doesn't have a touchscreen so I was kinda like 'owww no way' but I'm so over it now!

It's a bit shameful actually because in many of my latest random pics you can see me playing with my new toy the whole time! But who cares, you know what they say, never be ashamed of who (or WHAT in this case lol) you love! hehehe! ;-)

I need to come up with a nickname for my love, anyone got some nice suggestions? ;-P

Fashion: The Balloon/Bubble dress look!

If there is one look I LOVE lately it must be the balloon/bubble dress look! They come in so many different styles, from casual to super-chic and fabulous! No matter what style you choose for this look, make sure to not make the following fashion No Go's :

1) If not worn right dresses like these can look a bit unflattering because it hides most of your shape and curves. Some people might go like 'but that's GREAT and just what I wanted', but it's not always that great. Looking like a bag of potatoes without any form is always worse than what you were trying to hide! So even with these dresses, don't wear them just to 'hide' something extra.
2)Unless you're ultra skinny or able to get away with anything, don't wear wide fit tops/vests/jackets on top of these dresses. If both the top and the bottom parts are wide it just makes you look bigger than you actually are!

Some fashion Go's to help you get started with this look:

1) To add some extra shape and accentuate your curves the right way you can choose to add a belt to your look. Around or just above your waist (depending on the dress) will do the trick.
2)Make sure the top part of your dress fits right on your body. This is the most important part you should look at when buying these kind of dresses. If it fits tight around you, it will draw the attention to your smaller looking frame because the rest of the dress is so wide! Beware, too tight is NEVER a flattering look!

'The time of my life' at Dirty Dancing the musical!

Last week my friends and I went to see Dirty Dancing the musical in the Beatrix Theatre in Utrecht. I've really had the time of my life (LOL)!

We were just in time to see it because the last show of this musical here in Holland is at the end of this month! It's a lot like the movie, although some extra parts were made up. It has that same magic though!

Before the show started we were acting a bit silly and took a look at how it would feel to be 'Baby' for a few seconds. Haha! We kept cracking up over our pictures as 'Baby' because the rest of her body is so pale and all our faces were so tanned it looked like we really messed up in the make up department! lmao!

I really got the 'musical fever' after watching it, and we're already debating on which musical we're going to see next time! Last monday were the Musical Awards 2009, saw so many small parts of great new musicals that are coming up, I can't wait!

This is such a cute tool to give your hair a sleek and smooth look, and it works great! It got used for one of the shoots I did recently and I loved it! It's so small you can take it with you everywhere you go, and it works just as well as a 'normal' larger flat iron. It heats up just as well too. It especially does amazing work for you if you've got layers in your hair. It's so easy to accentuate them!

I'm definitely going to be using this mini hairstyler a lot! No matter how small you bag is, it always fits (ok, almost always lol)!

The Perfect Blowdry @ B-Academy

Last week I went to B-Academy in Amsterdam to get my hair done. I didn't really know what they were going to do with me this time, but I got 'The Perfect Blowdry'. I was really cool! Instead of straightening it with a flatiron it got a special blowdry which makes your hair look more natural styled and full of shine! I loved it! Take a look!

It did take some time but I loved the result. After we were finished we shot some pictures. I really loved this look and this is something I would definitely consider doing with my hair more often!

I'm shocked to see how long my hair got again, I cut it every few weeks but it's like weed lol!

Freedom Festival 2009 in Haarlem

May 5th is the day we Dutchies celebrate our freedom. On May 5th there are freedom festival all over Holland, the one in Haarlem being one of the biggest of them! The weather was kinda bad but me and a friend decided to go check it out anyway. Dutch artist and bands were performing, like Guus Meeuwis (who was already performing when we arrived).
Once we were there it started raining so we didn't stay for too long but we did eat some yummy snacks like 'kroketten', typically dutch! Hopefully the weather will be a bit better next year but I enjoyed it!

Queensday 2009

Queensday turned out a lot different than we all expected this year. In an attempted attack on the royal family people died. What should have been a celebration for the whole country, turned out to be a nightmare. There will be a memorial for the people that died tomorrow.

Because it was such a sad day for a lot of people most of us took it easy that day. My friends and I went to Amsterdam and made the best of it, although it was obvious the vibe there was different from what it normally is.

Although we will always remember what happened, I am really happy it didn't infuence the celebrations and the appearances of the royal family too much. To let one person ruin it all would have been such a shame.

Despite it all I wanted to share some of my Queensday pictures with you so check them out! Let's hope next year it will all be different and full of joy again!

A day in Antwerpen...

Last Sunday Rensley, Amanda and I went to Antwerpen (Belgium) for a day. Amanda had never been to Antwerpen before so we took her over there as a belated b-day present. I always love seeing the beautiful old buildings, reminds me of Paris a bit.

We went over to the Metropolis cinema first, where we watched the movie Inkheart. The Metropolis is one of the biggest cinema's in the world, it's huge. After we watched the movie we went into the city, walked around for a bit and got in this funny attraction called something like 'the beast'. It was this huge blow up beast where you could go inside and watch his insides, complete with skeletons etc and monsters chasing you in the dark, we laughed our asses off!

Later on we had a wonderful dinner in the city at Bife Churrasco, yummy food! When it got late we went back to the cinema to watch another movie, this time we watched The Uninvited, cool movie! We really enjoyed our day in Antwerpen and hope to go back again soon!

At Pleasure Paas Party with my girls!

Last Sunday my friends and I went to the Pleasure Paas Party in Ahoy, Rotterdam! It's held every year (on easter). We celebrated Juanita's b-day before we headed over there and really had the best of times! Despite of the fact that we're all such busy girls we always try to make some time for each other. Several artists performed like Jagged Edge and Brian McKnight.

Playing tourist and doing some shopping in Paris!

While I was in Paris I did some other things besides just going to disney of course! If there's any place I LOVE to shop in Europe it's got to be Paris (ok, or London or Milan ;-) ). I love Avenue des Champs-Elysées and Avenue George V! Can spend hours (and too much money lmao) over there. Luckily I couldn't go over the top because many other things were scheduled.

After some shopping we also played tourist. I've been to Paris many times before but my bf had only been there for work and never really got to see the city. We visited places like the Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe and of course the Tour Eiffel (Eiffeltower).

I also love going to restaurants in different cities, one day we went to 'Yuan' in a place near Paris. They had the best food! I always enjoy going to Paris, can't wait to visit again soon!

Last Tuesday I went to Disney in Paris. I had so much fun! I always feel like a little kid whenever I'm there. I was such beautiful weather that day. When I just entered the park I was wearing a shawl and a sweater but I took them off soon because it was way too warm!
I was dancing along with Donald Duck and some of his friends during one of the parades, lmao people must have thought I went crazy! lol!

After some dancing it was time for some of the rides etc! Took it easy at first and joined a little boattrip but it was too boring for me with all these other fun rides around everywhere!
Spacemountain and this ride in the picture are always my favorites! I love myself a little action! ;-)

Next time I'll go to disney for two days, it's a bit too much to do it all in just one day!

Last Monday I was in Amsterdam for a 'Long Hair Inspirations' workshop. I had to model for someone that got to learn the latest updo's etc, all the new stuff concerning hairstyling. It was a long but fun day!They made so many different hairdo's that day, I don't even remember how many, but there were a lot! It was great though, some looks came straight off the catwalks from the last weeks. Check out one of the updo's, I made this pic with my phone. Sorry, for the delay, I've been up to so much these past few days. Follow me on Twitter to catch a glimpse of what I'm doing day to day! Ok, so here are some answers to your questions:

1) What's going on with your website? It should have been up by now.

I know right! I had some problems with the person that would make my new website, so someone else will make my site now. That caused some delay! :-( Anyway, it's being worked on and it won't take that long anymore!

2) Can you post some pictures of you dancing?

A few pics are up on the old site, but I will definitely post some up here too some time!

3) I want you to post more looking good guidelines if that's possible. You only have one up so far and they are so useful to me.

4) please do more fashion blogs. i saw you wearing harempants for fashionweek and i like them but what should i wear with them?

Depends on what kind of look you're going for! As long as you keep in mind that your top should not be too wide because the harempants already have a wide fit. If you wear a volumious top with them, the whole outfit can get a too 'baggy' look. I personally like a see-through top with them (check my fashionweek look) . A simple tanktop tucked in your harempants would look great too!

5) What do you do to keep in shape?

I've never been a person that's into starving herself to stay skinny, I rather just watch what I eat. Not too much junkfood, just eat healthy meals. It's ok to 'sin' sometimes, just enjoy your food. Oww, and all the dancing helps of course!

I've also got a ton of other questions concerning make-up, hair and fashion!

I'm really flattered by all your compliments! Most of the time I do my make up myself. For special things or shoots the make up is usually done by a make up artist.

For my hair I get help from my sister Amanda, who is a great hairdresser/hairstylist/make-up artist and is now studying to become a beautyconsultant. Her beauty knowledge is endless! She's aiming to open up her own salon after she's finished!

Where fashion is concerned that's all just my own style. Even as a very little girl I always wanted to decide what I was wearing. If my mom would pick out a dress that I didn't like I would throw the biggest tantrum lmao! I'm privileged to be able to attend many fashionshows etc. now, so I get enough inspiration there. And magazines are always a great source of inspiration too! I never just copy a look though, I always go for a personal touch. For shoots I get styled sometimes, but that's different. I don't have a regular stylist.

I also got a lot of questions concerning clothes and accesoiries I wore, I will answer them next time! Hope this answered some of your questions!

Kirsten's b-day party!

So last weekend my sister celebrated her 21st b-day with all her friends. She wanted to celebrate it at my Mom's house and set up the backyard as one big place to party! She set up this big tent with heaters so no one would get cold. She invited like 80 people or something and it was so funny to see that everyone fitted in there and there was still some space left. It really surprised me lol!
There were 3 DJ's and she had several people performing throughout the night! My sister Amanda had prepared a special surprise for her: she performed a special dancemix with some other dancers! They totally kicked butt! :-P

We all went for chique, black clothing! Kirsten wore this beautiful black satin dress that we all just LOVED! Amanda wore this oversized black top with black shimmering leggings and purple accessoiries. I wore a black (strapless) jumpsuit (will also be a huge trend this spring if we should believe the runways!) with a silver sequin top over it.

The night and evening were just great and I think everyone had a great night.!I love these crowded parties but for my own b-day party I always like to have a more quiet b-day. What about you? Do you like to go all out for your b-day or do you just keep it low key?

Last Thursday my youngest sister became 21. On her actual b-day we had a quiet day with the family and some other relatives. Just a quiet day with fun people, good food and some nice music! Her friends were invited to her b-day bash yesterday. The party was so much fun! I'll post some pictures of the party when I get them.

Look at the belt my sister is wearing, I just love it! I'm really into some soft gothic items for this season. And what do you think about my multi-colored (flower-) printed top? Watch out for these looks this season! The soft gothic look and printed items available now are so HOT! LOL!

A new season is coming up and I was a bit bored with my old look so I changed my hairstyle! My hair is a bit shorter and is cut in different layers. Oww and I got side bangs too, they look so glamorous. It's also colored in black! I always love this color, it makes my hair look so shiny and healthy. I think I like it even better than my natural brown hair!
I'm so excited for this new season! It's finally not THAT cold anymore so in my head it's been springtime for a while now hahaha. With all the fashionshows going on, (AIFW was a few weeks ago but not all the international ones are finished yet!) I'm getting so much new inspiration and I'm going to update my wardrobe with some new stuff again soon!

I also picked up some new favorite make up and beautyproducts to go with my new look and this new season! I'll tell you all about it soon! So, do you like my new hairstyle?

Racing Expo in Leeuwarden

Last weekend I went to Leeuwarden for one of the largest racing expo's here in Holland. It was a 2 hour drive to get there! My boyfriend was taking pictures there and he dragged me along with him, lmao. I heard it was very crowded last year, but it seemed to be a bit more quiet this year.

I saw some nice cars, but I don't think I would ever buy such flashy cars myself lol. It was fun seeing people going crazy over some cars, their rims and all their other gadgets though!

Plane crash near Schiphol

I just finished watching the news about the plane that crashed this morning near Schiphol. At the moment it's clear that 9 people died, and at least 50 people are (badly) hurt and wounded. I was just shocked as the first reports about a crash were coming in. I know so many people that work or live near Schiphol, so I was a little worried. Soon it was clear the plane didn't actually reach the airport. I had a day off and planned to do some many things but I was glued to the tv trying to get all the details. I really hope there won't be any more casualties. What a horrible sight. Makes you think about how vunerable life really is...

Visiting Chanaya again!

Wednesday evening my friend Lucinda and I went to our friend Juanita to visit her, and her babygirl Chanaya. I can't believe time goes by so fast! She got so big and is a real cutie. She likes to be kept busy at all times. She's 4, 5 months old now.

I always try to make some time free to visit my friends, but lately everything had been so hectic! Luckily all of us were free that evening so we had a blast! Time was just flying away and before we knew it, it got late again haha. Nothing new for us though, I guess we just gossip too much. ;-)

Chanaya just loved the necklace that I was wearing because it was so shiny. She tried to play with it the whole time. Hahaha, I guess it's never too early to fall in love with some nice bling! LOL! I'll definitely visit again soon!

My Valentine's Day!

Before I went to the R&B Valentine's concert last thursday, I stopped by mom's house to pick up some stuff. Sergey was there too and I had not seen him in a while so it was great seeing him again. He had something waiting for me: a heart that he made at school! How cute is that? I was so surprised, he's such a sweet kid.

Last Monday I went back again and gave him a 'Mega Mindy' Candybox with different kind of Mega Mindy sweets. He's probably still busy eating up ALL that candy! LOL! :-)

On Valentine's Day my boyfriend and I spent some quality time together. We're always very busy so it was great just spending some extra time together. The night before Valentine I made his favorite food (lasagne). He's always asking me to make it but I usually don't have that much time because it takes a while to prepare (I always make it from scratch so that takes longer). In return I got a cool Valentine's dessert with my favorite wine!

We actually went shopping for 'presents' together LOL. After we were finished we were supposed to go out and salsa with some friends but we felt tired from all the shopping so we went to the movies instead. I really enjoyed the day. I hope everyone had a great Valentine's day too!

R&B Valentine Concert HMH

As I told you before in one of my earlier post my boyfriend surprised me with tickets to the R&B Valentine concert in the HMH in Amsterdam! It was such a nice surprise! Jodeci, Joe and Re-play were performing. It was a great and most of all FUN evening! Our friend O-dog was presenting the whole thing and he kept on making jokes and shouting my boyfriend's name because he felt he needed the promo. LOL!

Re-play was the first act of the evening. I really like their music, I hope they come with something new soon! After that was Joe! Everyone was singing along and stuff, so cool. After he performed the came out and watched Jodeci perform too!

Before Jodeci went on to perform, because everything was in the spirit of the upcoming Valentine's day, O-dog was throwing roses from the stage for the ladies and because the couldn't find me he gave one to my boyfriend so he could give it to me. So sweet!

Jodeci's performance was cool and after they were finished there was some sort of afterparty but I went home early. Or at least I was trying to, it got really late before we finally got home. Nothing to complain though, I had a great night!

I love going to concerts and I decided I will try and go to more concerts this year. Let's hope it works out for me!

XPS Moeilijk Hip Party

The weekend before Valentine's weekend I went to the XPS Moeilijk Hip party! We were busy promoting blackscreen photography again. I had a nice short shoot there.

After the shoot I helped out printing pictures for everyone but I got distracted all the time by people not wanting to get photographed with the blackscreen, but with me lmao! It was so funny. Take a look at one of those random pictures above. I really like the XPS parties, can't wait for the next one!
